Capitol Hill Day

January 23, 2013

February 25, 2013 Athletic trainers from around the country meet on Capitol Hill. Hundreds of athletic trainers and athletic training students meet with the staff of about 200 legislators in our nation’s capital. What they discuss impacts the safety of athletes nationwide. These meetings have lasting meaning for the athletic training profession.

Many state and district leaders have gone to this event because of the impact that it has for the jobs of athletic trainers like you. They are fighting to make things better by meeting with their legislator’s staff. There has been a certain shift in recent years to educate them about our ability to protect the health and safety of our nation’s youth. We are the only profession positioned to do this.

Athlete safety will most likely be on the minds of these legislators. State by state athletic trainers are being recognized for the work that we do and the role that we play. We save lives.

I would like to put it out there. Join us in Washington DC on February 25. Check out the link to learn about this event. http://www.nata.org/capitol-hill-day While you are there check out the video of Jeff McKiblin. It is an exciting to be in these meetings and advocating for our profession.
